First Snowy Morning

McKenna enjoyed her first snow day yesterday. We did a little sledding in the morning. The dogs LOVED it! (see them playing in the photo?) Chickens...not so much.

International Lobster Night

(Not to be confused with the famous LOBSTERPALOOZA!!!) I think Joe got some special deal when he ordered Lobsterpalooza this year. He ordered 4 lobster tails from different regions and we tried each one. They were all very beautiful and tasted quite different. Our favorite was Brazilian, followed by South African, Australian and then Maine. The first 2 were really outstanding. Are we nerds or what?!? Look at my little cutie! She loves lobster just as much as her mom. We are getting ready for Lobsterpalooza on December 23 this year. More pictures to come!

Beautiful Night at Home

McKenna really misses me when I travel.

Carolina Classic Car Show

Next time my friend, LaVare, gets a brainstorm...remind me to at stay home. Here are the Divas "modeling" with some pretty cool cars on Saturday, December 4, 2010. It started to snow while we were there. The guys were disappointed when my "truck outfit" ended up being a snow suit and not Daisy Dukes.

Thanksgiving 2010

I have to say that I cannot recall in recent years as warm and cozy of a Thanksgiving as the one we celebrated this year in our new home. We had the Warren clan and they all brought all kinds of wonderful food. We ate in the formal dining room, the outside porch table and at the bar. Folks watched TV, stood by the outside fire and drank wine :0). I was taken aback by how appreciative everyone was. Look how cute McKenna was in the vest she made at school. I am so proud of her! Joe brined the turkey in organic broth and herbs, then it was smoked in pecan, oak, hickory and apple wood. It was probably the best turkey I had in my life -- very most and tastey. It was completely eaten except for a few bites.

Week of December 6

McKenna and I are trying to document all the fun things we do in this weekly blog. So here goes it for this past week:

- Got a contract for the house on Herbert Drive (HooRay!)

- On Sunday night Aunt and Uncle Bluebird (aka Hilda and Maurice) took McKenna to see "Meadow Lights" Christmas display. They came home with LOTS of candy. McKenna's favorite was the peacock (who's ever heard of a Christmas peacock!) She is just telling me now that her favorite candy was the Root Beer Taffy.

- Aunt Hilda has eye surgery today

- Renea was sick and we forgot to bring in our snack for school (oh, the horror!). Luckily Ms. Barber let me off easy when I brought in Christmas cupcakes today.

- We put up our Christmas tree. I still have all the glass ornaments since I was a kid (the ones that have not broken over all our moves). Plus I ordered some off eBay. It took us 3 days of non stop placement and we finally got them all on. I am not kidding when I say we probably have 500 on the tree!

- The Undercover Quilters from Corinth Holders area met for our annual Christmas Party.

- I have another piece at the Clayton Visual Art Center on display this month. Diane, LaVare and I went to the "meet the artist" reception. No one asked for my autograph... :(

- McKenna went on her FIRST FIELD TRIP. She took a real train from the Raleigh station to Selma. They went to see Polar Express. The kids wore PJs just like in the movie. At the end of the movie, Ms. Barber passed out a special snowflake bell to each of the students. It was a great day!!! The photo above was before the trip in her class t-shirt, Sponge Bob Long Johns and PJ bottoms. That's my latest quilt behind McKenna.

If I am late sending out the Christmas cards, it is because I was working on this blog... In addition to Blah, Blah, Bog Mondays, we are also planning Family Game Night on Wednesday.

Cute As A Bug

Here is McKenna in her 2010 Halloween Costume. Aunt Debbie (a fellow IBM Diva who shares the same birthday as McKenna) purchased it for her. I have to say it fit her personality. She is really loving the outdoors...especially lizards! She said she wanted to be a doctor for lizards when she grows up (so much for that game developer thing I mentioned!).

This is a shot of McKenna with Aspen, a school friend and her sister, Tristen. We had a great time tric or treating with them.

First Jiffy Pop

It's funny how simple things can be so fun. This is McKenna experiencing her first Jiffy Pop. She had no idea what it was going to do.

Kindergarten Career Day

I was truly surprised when McKenna did not want to wear Daddy's stethoscope for career day. Instead, she wanted to carry Mommy's rolly bag. We outfitted her with an IBM badge and passport complete her own photo. She says she would like to be a game developer in the future. And added as I am writing that she wants to go to UNC!

Ellie and Susan

Ellie and Susan are our "farm dogs." Ellie is 8 months old and Susan, the German Shepherd, is 6 months old.
Don't they look absolutely cute together playing?!? Their colors make them almost look like twins. We have been maing home made dog food for them since we learned corn and wheat can be toxic to dogs. I am trying to rush to add a lot of new photos for our viewers so we will hear more about their adventures soon.

And after 1.5 years...a BRAND NEW Post!!!

Hello everyone,

This is McKenna and Rhonda on our first "Blah, Blah, Blog Monday" night. We have SO much catching up with everyone to do. We have moved to PRETTY RUN FARM. We will be posting some picture of the new house soon. We also have 2 new puppies (which we promised we would blog first about.) Fluffy, Puffy and Anna (the ginea hen) are our new poultry friend additions. McKenna started kindergarten and is thriving. I just wish there were more kids around for her to play with. We all LOVE living in the country. The new house is warm and cozy. We could not be happier! Did I mention we have a great big red barn, too?!? Okay, on with pictures and posts
